FINANCIAL SERVICES ACADEMY

 

Through our Financial Services Academy, you will complete a 4–6 week comprehensive training programme to help you develop the necessary technical and professional skills for a successful career. You will prepare for the globally recognised qualification, CISI Investment Operating Certificate (IOC) – designed by senior practitioners to help you meet the requirements of markets and regulators across the globe and achieve core competence for your job requirements as an Analyst.

As an Analyst, you will work alongside some of the world’s largest Investment Banks, finding solutions to help them meet with their regulations in areas such as Legal, Risk, Compliance, KYC (Know Your Customer), Operations, and Consultancy. Our graduate programme is structured to fuel your continuous professional development journey through real-world experience, professional skills training, support with accredited exams, networking opportunities, annual compensation review, and the opportunity for promotion to Associate after two years.

HERE'S WHAT TO KNOW:

  • Learn from market leading experts within the financial services industry​.

  • The programme includes training in financial services and regulation as well as essential professional skills such as excel and communication.

  • Prepare for CISI Investment Operating Certificate (IOC) globally recognised qualifications that feature on the Financial Services Skills Councils list of recommended courses.

  • Training will be a hybrid of onsite and online learning through a virtual classroom.

  • Previous experience is not required but candidates must be awarded at least a 2:2 degree - ideally in Finance, Economics, Business, Law, Management or similar areas (although we encourage applications from those with a degree in any discipline) - before the scheduled start date at FinTrU.

  • Our Accelerate Programmes offer the opportunity for those without a degree to join FinTrU. If applying without a degree, candidates must have a minimum 18 months’ experience working in a banking or regulated financial services environment. This includes but is not limited to experience as a financial services or banking customer adviser or contact centre operative/agent with experience working for banks, insurance, investment, and credit companies.

LEGAL ACADEMY

 

The Legal Academy is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who wish to train in the legal aspects of the Financial Services industry and embark on their professional journey. Supported by the Department for the Economy, the FinTrU Legal Academy is a training programme leading to a potential offer of employment. The FinTrU Legal Academy Training is delivered in conjunction with Queen's University Belfast, Ulster University and Belfast Metropolitan College

HERE'S WHAT TO KNOW:


 

  • Learn from market leading experts within the financial services industry​

  • The programme includes training in financial services, regulation and contract negotiation as well as essential professional skills such as excel and communication.

  • Prepare for CISI Investment Operating Certificate (IOC) globally recognised qualifications that feature on the Financial Services Skills Councils list of recommended courses

  • ​Training for the FinTrU Legal Academy takes place over five weeks

  • For the duration of the programme, participants will be paid £155 training allowance per week

  • Due to the COVID pandemic training may be a hybrid of onsite and online learning through a virtual classroom

  • Previous experience is not required but candidates must be awarded at least a 2:2 in any discipline before the scheduled start date at FinTrU

Claire's

cAREER PATH

Claire's career journey is just one example of how to enjoy a successful career path at FinTrU.

 

Claire graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast with a degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research and joined FinTrU in 2014 as an Analyst 1 through our Financial Services Academy.

Year 1

Worked on first client project in Operational Risk, and sat two exams towards the CISI IOC, passing both.

Year 2

Passed the remaining exam for CISI IOC qualification. Module on Operational Risk. Promoted to Analyst 2.

 

Year 3-4

Promoted to Associate in 2016 and undertook a secondment in a tier 1 bank in London for 3 months. Following this, Claire moved into a Financial Crime Quality Assurance role and sat the ACAMS (Certified Anti-Money laundering Specialist) exam.

 

Year 5-6

Offered the opportunity to take a secondment in New York, where Claire was responsible for performing an assessment of the bank’s KYC quality framework and assisted with internal audits. Claire then increased her responsibilities, leading elements of client remediation projects driven by KYC regulations. Claire was promoted to Senior Associate in 2019.

 

Year 7

Promoted to Vice President in 2022, leading a team on a new client engagement in Financial Crime and Enhanced Due Diligence.
