International Women’s Day celebrated across FinTrU sites
FinTrU’s Women in Finance committee marked International Women’s Day with a series of key networking events across our sites. Embracing the theme of this year’s campaign, Give to Gain, employees gathered across our Belfast, Derry-Londonderry, Letterkenny and Porto sites to listen to key speakers and to share their own personal experiences.
This year’s International Women’s Day campaign encouraged a mindset of generosity and collaboration, while emphasising the power of reciprocity and support. In fitting with this, our Porto site was treated to a talk from Portuguese, four-time Olympian long- distance runner Sara Moreira who spoke about the reality behind the medals: the loneliness of an individual sport; the pressure on a woman’s body; and the dreams she had to postpone. Sara also spoke about navigating a feminine body in a world that demands performance and about the quiet sacrifices no one sees. A voice of inspiration, Sarah told the room “If you can dream it, you can live it.”
Our Porto office also welcomed Emma Vassallo, FinTrU Managing Director – Head of Business Development, for an International Women's Day session hosted by the FinTrU Women in Finance committee. Emma offered an insightful look at her career in financial services, sharing the milestones, challenges and lessons that have shaped her journey. The discussion highlighted the importance of supporting women in building impactful and sustainable careers in finance. At FinTrU, we are proud to champion this commitment through our Women in Finance committee and the initiatives they deliver throughout the year.

In Letterkenny, our Women in Finance committee collaborated with our TrU Wellness committee and held a networking event to encourage new connections. Each participant was given a coloured card that directed them to a specific table—creating the perfect opportunity to chat with colleagues they may not usually cross paths with. Networking events were also held at our Belfast and Derry-Londonderry sites. An Allyship Pledge Wall initiative gave employees the opportunity to show their commitment to supporting Women in Finance, challenging bias, and creating a more inclusive workplace.
