Meet the FinTrU Software Engineers

Roisin Corr - Full Stack Software Engineer
FinTrU Belfast
My name is Roisin Corr and I am a Full Stack Software Engineer at FinTrU.
What was your background prior to joining FinTrU?
I completed a degree in Psychology. However, I then decided to go for a career change to a more technical role, so I completed an MSc in Software Development. Following graduation, I worked at Etain Software for two years as a Developer before joining FinTrU.
What attracted you to apply for a role at FinTrU?
FinTrU is a big name in Belfast so I had heard a number of people mention that they had friends who work here and love it. I also found out about the numerous awards FinTrU has won such as ‘Best company to work for’ and ‘Employer of the year’. What really attracted me to FinTrU was knowing that the company cares about the people.
How was the process of joining FinTrU during the current working from home situation?
The onboarding process with Charmain and the Tech team made me feel like I was quickly included in the team and the day to day work. Due to this, working from home during my initial induction has been straightforward, as I have people I can contact if I have any questions outside of my project work.
Why would you recommend a career in the Technology team at FinTrU?
The Technology team at FinTrU really values your input and presents many opportunities to learn and improve your skills. The agile way of working means that there is a lot of collaboration, so you can learn from others and make decisions as a team.

What was your background prior to joining FinTrU?
Before joining FinTrU, I worked in various roles in a number of Technology companies. These roles have included Full Stack Software Developer, Tech Lead, Scrum Master, AI Engineer and Researcher.
What attracted you to apply for a role at FinTrU?
The first thing that attracted me to apply for a role at FinTrU was the technology stack and the current status of the company. As someone who loves to create software and do it right, I saw this as an opportunity to get to build something new using the latest technology with a great company. During my research into FinTrU, I had such a good feeling about the company. From all the great awards that have been won such as ‘Best Employer’ it was evident that they are a great investor in people.
Why would you recommend a career in the Technology team at FinTrU?
I would recommend a career at the Technology team at FinTrU due to the exciting new opportunities to work on a range of new products. You will also have chance to be involved in the decision making process around technologies used and the processes involved in completing projects. I would close by saying that this entrepreneurial spirit is evident throughout the company with an inviting and inclusive culture.
