#MeetFinTrU:
PAUL MCDERMOTT
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
NORTH WEST OFFICE
My name is Paul McDermott and I am a Senior Associate at FinTrU. I currently manage a team of KYC Analysts in our North West Office.
I originally trained as a mechanic when I left school but then returned to college in my early 20s to study Business Studies. Whilst I completed this course, I studied Law modules which greatly interested me.
One of the first projects I was assigned focused on KYC (Know Your Customer). I felt that this type of investigative work really suited me.
How has FinTrU supported you during your career development?
I started my career in FinTrU as a KYC Analyst and the company supported me in every way to help me become an SME in this field. At this point, I wanted to progress my career into management and FinTrU supported my transition into becoming a People Manager by providing me with the relevant training and opportunities to manage a team.

Why would you recommend a career at FinTrU?
I would highly recommend a career in FinTrU. If you are willing to put in hard work, FinTrU will provide you with the opportunities to excel in your career.
My own experience within FinTrU has been nothing short of amazing and demonstrates that the opportunities are there for the taking for the right individuals.
What does it mean to you to be able to work with FinTrU in the North West?
I originally started with FinTrU when we were solely based in Belfast as opportunities in Financial Services were very limited within the North West. To now have the chance to work for FinTrU here in the North West is fantastic. With FinTrU, I have the opportunity to work with some of the world's leading investment banks whilst living locally. I feel there is not another company within the North West that offers the chance to work with such high-level clients, right on our doorstep.
What advice would you give to someone who is planning on a career with FinTrU?
FinTrU offers a vast range of opportunities to employees who are looking to further develop their careers. This is a chance of a lifetime - especially to work with some of the leading investment banks throughout the world from right here in the North West.
