CLAIRE BRENNAN
As Belfast Talent Partner at FinTrU my role is to help develop and support FinTrU’s Belfast Academy, Graduate and Placement Programmes. This involves assisting with the selection of candidates, working with internal and external trainers to develop the training programmes and participating in resourcing discussions to ensure that Analysts are streamed to projects aligned to their skills and experience. I also manage the Belfast Talent Pool supporting individuals awaiting placement on project to ensure they maximise opportunities for professional development.
WHEN DID YOU JOIN FINTRU?
I joined the company in 2014 via FinTrU’s first Financial Services Academy.
WHAT IS THE FINTRU FINANCIAL SERVICES ACADEMY?
The Financial Services Academy is a 4-6 week pre-employment training programme in soft skills, KYC, Finance, Conduct and Risk and lectures that will allow candidates to sit the first module of the CISI Investment Operations Certificate (IOC). The Financial Services Academy equips graduates from all degree disciplines with a solid foundation of industry knowledge and soft skills that gives them the opportunity to pursue a successful career in Financial Services with FinTrU.

how DID THE FINTRU FINANCIAL SERVICES ACADEMY PREPARE YOU FOR A CAREER IN FINANCIAL SERVICES?
As a Mathematics graduate I had limited knowledge of the Financial Services Industry before the Academy. The Finance lectures provided me with a solid understanding of the institutions and roles within the industry. This new knowledge, teamed with the soft skills training, provided me with the ability and confidence to assist Tier 1 Investment Bank clients from day one of my employment with FinTrU.
what are YOU LOOKING FROM AN APPLICANT FOR THE FINTRU FINANCIAL SERVICES ACADEMY?
We are looking for applicants from all degree disciplines with a 2.2 or above who embody the FinTrU Values; People, Professionalism, Partnership and Passion.

HOW DOES THE FINTRU FINANCIAL SERVICES ACADEMY SUPPORT SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT?
The FinTrU Financial Services Academy supports successful applicants by providing job relevant training in technical and soft skills as well as giving candidates the opportunity to sit the first module of the globally recognised CISI Investment Operations Certificate (IOC). Training is provided by a host of experienced professionals from consulting firms and local universities.
There are regular touch points with FinTrU Talent Partners throughout the training programme and the class setting allows the Academy participants to get to know and support each other as well.
