DARRAGH MCCARTHY
FOUNDER & CEO
Darragh McCarthy is the CEO and Founder of FinTrU. He started his career at Morgan Stanley in 1994 and remained there until late 2012. During his time at Morgan Stanley, Darragh was based in London, Frankfurt and New York and held various responsibilities including Global COO for Institutional Securities, COO for EMEA, Head of Fixed Income Sales North America and Head of Fixed Income Sales EMEA.
In 2013 Darragh founded FinTrU recognising the increasing demand from Global Investment Banks for high-quality resources to navigate the ever-increasing regulatory landscape. Whilst managed as a profit-driven organisation, Darragh also considers FinTrU as having a social purpose to create high-quality professional employment on the island of Ireland.
Darragh has a First Class Honours BComm International from University College of Dublin, Ireland. He has been nominated for EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018. Darragh speaks fluent German and Dutch.

When did you join FinTrU?
I joined FinTrU in May 2017 as a Senior Associate. Since then, I have progressed to Vice President and in January 2021 I was promoted to Senior Vice President.
How has FinTrU supported you during your career development?
I have worked with some great people who have supported me in many ways. They have given me a platform with the client and autonomy to take the lead in projects, recognising when I have received client feedback and offering advice and guidance whenever I needed it.
What opportunities are there within a career in KYC at FinTrU?
There are multiple roles within KYC, and each one offers something slightly different. These can range between onboarding, refresh, quality control and more. Within different roles, there is an opportunity to add value by identifying gaps in policy and procedures and suggesting fixes. Within KYC you can develop as a SME as well as going down the People Manager route.
Why would you recommend a career at FinTrU?
I could talk about the opportunities to learn and grow in the various projects we have on offer, I could also refer to FinTrU's growing footprint in both Northern Ireland and the U.S. However, for me the real value in FinTrU is the investment in our people. What advice would you give to someone who is considering a move to FinTrU?
FinTrU have engagements in multiple sectors, from KYC and Legal to Technology and Consultancy and we are continuing to grow - we were named in the 2020 Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 as the 42nd fastest-growing company across the whole of the UK. We have also been named as one of the fastest growing companies in Europe by the Financial Times.
In joining us, you will have a real opportunity to establish yourself in a company that invests in its people and has no limits when it comes to our future growth. Personally, I joined FinTrU from a large, well known investment bank almost four years ago and I haven't looked back since.
