FRIDAY 30 SEPTEMBER 2022

Conor Hughes - IT Junior Analyst
Course Title: SC-200 Security operations analyst (Firebrand training)
Date: June 2022
WHAT DID YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE COURSE?
I really enjoyed discovering new elements of my role in security and how I could use this new knowledge to further my career in the most efficient way possible. The course also allowed me to interact with individuals from other companies who have many years of experience in a wide range of areas which let me get an idea of what they wanted to accomplish when they were in my shoes.
The course was amazingly laid out and covered a large amount of content in an efficient and very beneficial way. There were also several hands-on experiences in terms of labs that let me focus on a problem at my own pace, which was very beneficial to my overall development.
HOW DO YOU THINK THIS WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR CAREER?
Being able to take part in a course like this at a very early stage in my career was amazing as it’s allowed me to gain the necessary knowledge to do my role to the best of my ability while also providing me with additional development. This means I can offer assistance beyond my role. When the option is available again to take part in another course, I will be jumping at the opportunity to take part.
HOW DID FINTRU HELP IN THE PROCESS?
Not only did FinTrU help with funding for the course they also helped me with all the set up, so I received all the necessary emails in terms of onboarding and then all I needed to do was join the course on the date given.
WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TAKING ON ADDITIONAL LEARNING/TRAINING?
Taking on additional training gives you that head start if you’re early on in your career. Getting to understand the different processes of your role within an intense 2–3-day course is very beneficial for your overall development. The additional training also lets you interact with others from several different companies and get an idea of the different areas they specialise in. The courses not only prepare you for the exam in terms of Lectures/Labs they also give you the tools needed to study on your own time, such as additional labs and practise exams that prepare you for the real thing.
