FinTrU Financial Services Academy

Since 2014, FinTrU has partnered with the Department for the Economy to run a number of Assured Skills Academies. Through these programmes, Graduates from all degree backgrounds undertake bespoke pre-employment training at Belfast Met and Ulster University. This training provides them with the fundamentals of Financial Services and prepares them for their career with FinTrU. 

To date, 100% of successful Academy Graduates have been offered a permanent position with FinTrU – that’s 140 graduates so far!

At FinTrU, we have training and development at the heart of everything we do so, with this in mind, we developed a two-year programme for our Academy Graduates to ensure that they continue to receive comprehensive training and support throughout their time as Analysts within FinTrU.  As part of this programme, Analysts are supported through the first three levels of the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC).

Professional Qualifications

FinTrU believes in the importance of continuous professional development and encourages its employees to undertake regular in-house training.  We also recognise the importance for individuals to attain professional qualifications relevant to their own area of expertise. 

FinTrU supports staff who wish to study for external accreditation across our product range of Legal, Risk, Compliance, Operations,

KYC & Consultancy.

FinTrU Financial Queens Lecture Series

In November 2016 FinTrU, in association with Queens University Belfast, held the first in a series of "Thought Leadership Lectures" on key issues in the Financial Services Industry. The purpose of this lecture series is to provoke thought and discussion on Financial Markets and help promote the Financial Services Sector in Belfast.

FinTrU has a second lecture planned for October 2017, featuring guest speaker Elizabeth Stheeman, Senior Advisor at Bank of England, and Many DeFilippo, Managing Director Morgan Stanley, to talk on "Financial Markets Regulation and Surveillance"..

FinTrU is committed to enhancing the personal and professional growth of all its employees. We offer our staff a variety of learning and development opportunities, ranging from accredited external qualifications to ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions with our Senior Management Team.

Lunch and Learn

FinTrU has co-ordinated several successful ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions for employees, conducted by FinTrU CEO Darragh McCarthy. These sessions have covered a wide range of topics from Client Relationship Management to the Performance and Development Cycle, with the aim of supplementing learning and development across the employee base. These sessions give every FinTrU employee, from Analyst to Executive Director, the opportunity to spend an hour learning from the experience of our CEO across multiple disciplines.  In addition, partnerships with guest speakers such as Gillian Anderson from Bank of England, guarantee that each ‘Lunch and Learn’ is an invaluable experience for all who attend.
