How you can help front-line workers be protected against Covid-19

Wednesday 8 April 2020

FinTrU Senior Associates, Seana Grant and Claire O’Carolan, have been supporting the front-line workers during the Covid-19 pandemic by making items such as gowns, masks, trousers, scrubs and much more.

They are taking part in this initiative via the NI Scrubs Facebook group which has over 5,000 members.

Seana Grant said “you do not need to be a sewing expert to help in this cause. Even if you are only a beginner, sewing masks is easy to do and will be such a great help to those working in the front-line.”

Claire O’Carolan said “If you want to help by sewing, you can do so by joining the Facebook group and offering your services. There are coordinators across Northern Ireland, and they will help you in connecting you with the right people in your area for material drop offs, guides and deliveries.”

If you cannot sew, you can still help in the following ways:

  • Lending of sewing equipment and machines

  • Cutting out pattern pieces

  • Delivery of materials to sewers who are self-isolating

  • Printing of pattern pieces

  • Donating threads and suitable materials

If you want to get involved, join the Facebook group here and comment with how you can help.
