After a company-wide vote, FinTrU employees have selected AWARE NI as its company charity partner for 2023-24
AWARE NI is the Depression Charity for Northern Ireland, working exclusively for people with depression and bipolar disorder. Since 1996, the charity has developed an established network of support groups in rural and urban areas across Northern Ireland, all run by trained volunteers.
Towards the end of last year, FinTrU employees were given the opportunity to submit a charity of their choosing for the partner selection process for 2023-24. The shortlisted charities were then invited to attend a virtual fair that allowed them to share their work and give an insight into their initiatives to FinTrU employees.
FinTrU Chief of Staff, Katrien Roppe, said: “Our employees voted in their hundreds to choose our new charity partner and we cannot wait to start working with AWARE NI. We care deeply about building strong relationships with our local communities and, through our values of Partnership, Passion, People and Professionalism, everyone at FinTrU will be helping to raise funds in support of AWARE NI and its invaluable services.”
AWARE NI’s support groups welcome people with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder as well as carers for people with the illness. It also delivers mental health and wellbeing programmes into communities, schools, colleges, universities, and workplaces to promote positive mental health.
Clare Galbraith, Head of Fundraising at AWARE NI, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been chosen as FinTrU’s newest charity partner! We look forward to working together to raise vital funds to help further expand and develop the support services we offer to those living with depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder in Northern Ireland.
“We also look forward to working with the staff at FinTrU to promote the ways in which to maintain positive mental health and manage wellbeing within the workplace.”
Across 2021-22, FinTrU partnered with Action Cancer, raising £200,000 for the Northern Ireland-based charity through a variety of initiatives, from Bake Offs to the Belfast City Marathon.
FinTrU is delighted to welcome its new charity partner AWARE NI and sincerely thanks all the charities that expressed an interest in working with them.
