DARRAGH MCCARTHY
FOUNDER & CEO
Darragh McCarthy is the CEO and Founder of FinTrU. He started his career at Morgan Stanley in 1994 and remained there until late 2012. During his time at Morgan Stanley, Darragh was based in London, Frankfurt and New York and held various responsibilities including Global COO for Institutional Securities, COO for EMEA, Head of Fixed Income Sales North America and Head of Fixed Income Sales EMEA.
In 2013 Darragh founded FinTrU recognising the increasing demand from Global Investment Banks for high-quality resources to navigate the ever-increasing regulatory landscape. Whilst managed as a profit-driven organisation, Darragh also considers FinTrU as having a social purpose to create high-quality professional employment on the island of Ireland.
Darragh has a First Class Honours BComm International from University College of Dublin, Ireland. He has been nominated for EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018. Darragh speaks fluent German and Dutch.

FinTrU to plant over 700 trees to celebrate 7th birthday and employee milestone

FinTrU has today announced their commitment to plant over 700 trees, one for each employee, as part of an environmental and sustainability pledge.
On Wednesday 16 December, the company will celebrate its 7th birthday and mark the occasion through an environmental project in conjunction with their ECO Committee and Belfast City Council in 2021.
Following the planting of the initial 700 trees, FinTrU will continue to plant a tree per employee each year as the company continues to grow. FinTrU is carrying out this initiative through the Belfast Metropolitan Residents Group as part of their Million trees over 15 years proposal. The initiative will take place following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions.
Steven Murtland, FinTrU Chief Financial Officer and ECO Committee Senior Sponsor, said "As the fastest growing company in Northern Ireland, FinTrU has a responsibility to have a social purpose, not just in terms of high quality employment, but also with regards to sustainability. FinTrU cares passionately about the environment and has a number of eco initiatives in place including environmentally friendly water bottles, keep cups, umbrellas, masks, stationery and annual offsetting of carbon emissions. FinTrU’s ECO Committee also regularly holds internal environmental education sessions for the company. As we celebrate reaching 700 employees, as well as our 7th birthday, it is important that reflect on what we can do to help our environment."
