FINTRU IS A FINALIST IN THE GNI MAGAZINE AWARDS AS 'LGBT FRIENDLY EMPLOYER'
BY ROBERT CLELAND
FRIDAY 12 OCTOBER 2018
FinTrU has been shortlisted as a finalist in the GNI Magazine Awards for the ‘LGBT Friendly Employer’ category. It is an honour to have been nominated for this award alongside some of the largest companies in Northern Ireland.
To have our efforts recognised in the equality and inclusion sphere is very humbling to us. This award nomination was carried out through a public vote and we would like to thank everyone who put FinTrU forward. We are proud to that these efforts have been recognised in the equality and inclusion sphere
At FinTrU we firmly believe that everyone is equal and that everyone should be treated as such. We attend Belfast Pride every year and in 2018 over half of our population of staff, their families and friends were in attendance. We have also held various internal events this year to help educate our staff on LGBTQ+ history and the importance of treating everyone equally, without prejudice.
These events included a ‘Pride Breakfast’ to launch our ‘TrU Colours’ LGBTQ+ focused committee and a Marriage Equality talk. At this event we had a local drag personality and a same sex married couple from the Republic of Ireland share their views on why marriage equality is important in Northern Ireland. Following on from these events, FinTrU was a lead signatory on an open marriage equality letter from businesses calling for equal marriage in Northern Ireland to reflect the values of our staff, families and friends.
