NORTHERN IRELAND: FinTrU has today announced its commitment to plant 1,000 trees, one for each employee, as part of its continued environmental and sustainability pledge

On Thursday 16 December, to mark the company’s eighth birthday, FinTrU committed to planting 1,000 trees in Northern Ireland during 2022. This is the second year in a row that tree planting will be used to celebrate its birthday.

FinTrU founder and CEO Darragh McCarthy said: “Last year, we planted 700 trees, one for each employee, as we celebrated an employee milestone. For 2022, to represent 1,000 employees, we are delighted to be reflecting that number with our purchase of 1,000 trees to be planted across Northern Ireland.”

FinTrU has teamed up with Trees On The Land – an initiative working to establish young native trees across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The planting of these trees will take place across Belfast and the North West. Trees On The Land’s vision is to establish tree cover and woodland in rural and urban areas that will grow for many years and provide valuable resources, beneficial ecosystem services and a lasting legacy for future generations.

“It’s a core belief at FinTrU that we have a social purpose not only to provide high-quality employment but also to be committed to environmental issues such as sustainability, so our trees for employees makes for a good match,” added Darragh. “Laying strong roots and continuing to grow is something we firmly endorse!”
